Chase The Sun

Thats right! One of my favourite rides of last year. An endurance feast to the beautiful south west, home of the great and the good! 🙂
Around 300 riders will start off near the East coast and ride the 200 miles through to Burnham-on-Sea. We will latch on from London so our jolly will “only” be around 150 miles from the park!
This is a fantastic event with great atmosphere which is getting bigger year by year!
The plan is to stay over in one of the excellent seaside B&Bs, and then get the train back in the morning. I will leave the train bookings to you guys, there are several options around that area.
Full details of the event are here: http://chasethesun.wix.com/chasethesun
We will meet at Roehampton Cafe at 8am, ready to latch onto the passing peloton.

There will be hundereds of cyclists on this ride guys so it should be a great day. Try and pair up with riders of the same pace to ensure nobody is riding on their own. Its pretty well supported so this shouldn’t really be an issue and most of us can regroup at the designated water/food stops.
I would say this should be mostly for Intermediate levels up to Advanced, unless you have shown you can do this kind of distance and have a Garmin or equivalent.
The price for this great event is a mere £40 to cover the B&B accommodation. I will need to start booking this in January to secure our digs, hence the early posting.
The town gets packed with cyclists on that day for some strange reason so we have to move fast. If I can get it for less than £40 then I will dish out the refunds, or buy the first round at the pub!
If you want to come or have any queries then just message myself to discuss it and how to pay the deposit.
Please bring water bottles, snacks, suitable clothing to relax in, cash, lights and at least one spare i600_445142622nner tube with tools. Road bikes only.
The plan is to get to the finish in Burnham hopefully around 5pm. Check into our hotel, an
d go enjoy the festivities back at the finish line.(Pub on seafront)
Olly who runs the event does a great job and is a nice guy to boot. The event only runs with the help of donations from the participants so if you see Olly at the finish going around with a bucket the please make sure to put in something for the hard work of all the event volunteers.
They have actually been really helpful the last two years by taking our bags in the support vehicles, as I said a really well organised event! Please remember to register on their event page so they know how many riders are coming.
