Fancy A Weekend Away?
Yes thats right, yet another Rouleurs weekend away. This time we venture North to the birthplace of Sir Richard of York! I have been assured its a wonderful place to cycle and guess what, The Wiggle Yorkshire Sportive is taking place at the same time so we have a chance to show those Northerners what we can do!
This weekend should be a good opportunity to finish the season with a bang for the competitive types. Equally, for those wanting to go at a more leisurely pace then there are plenty of options for the actual sportive with small/medium/large routes.

ITINERARY:
Friday 9:00am:
Meet at London St Pancreas. Get the 2 hour train to York. Cycle the remaining 25 miles to Helmsley YHA to dump our gear. Maybe a pub roast in the countryside somewhere and another cycle to burn off the spuds.
Saturday 8am:
Wiggle Yorkshire Sportive starts. Departure times are from 8-10am so we have some flexibility, our hostel is not far from the start so a nice little warm up. Choice of routes are on the website. Once finished we can celebrate our collective awesomeness with a few well deserved beers!
Sunday 9am:
A bit of sight seeing cycling perhaps around the York moors with our very own York resident as a tour guide! Probably something around the 70 mile mark to ensure we check off all the must ride hills around the area.
Monday 9am
Bit of free time here if we get any exciting ideas. Check out of hostel and ride the 25 miles to York, maybe lunch/sight seeing there before catching the train back to London.
It will be a case of riding with small backpacks, but this really only effects us for the 25 mile commute from York train station to the hostel so not too bad. Weather should be ok by then so really the only things we need to carry might be going out clothes, footwear, wash bag, etc. We have booked two comfortable private rooms at the Helmsley YHA in a really beautiful location.
The price for this amazing weekend is a bargain £82 This includes breakfast (full English or continental) for the full three days. Maximum group size will be twelve people.
The trains you will have to book yourself, between London St Pancreas and York vary between £14.50-£35 depending on the time, we will have to come back to this later as I dont think you can book this far in advance. Will confirm the times we are catching the train there and back asap.
We will be riding as a group, waiting at tops of hills and junctions to keep everyone together on the commutes down and back. For the sportive itself we will probably pair up with riders of the same ability so everyone can go at there own pace.
It surely will be a cracking weekend, am looking forward to it already!
